Improve the lighting. You must direct your attention to your kitchen's ceiling. One thing you can do to make the most out of them is to improve lighting. Apart from that, it would be a great idea for you to hang storage units from them. Oftentimes, the ceilings are neglected; however, if you have limited space, explore its potential for enhanced illumination and organization. Consider attaching pot racks to your ceiling as this will make it a lot easier for you to get the cooking pans and pots you need for cooking.
The first thing I did was to look for some place in my kitchen where I could install a little storage rack. I found a little poorly-designed corner in the kitchen. I didn't want to take that counter space up though; I hung a four-tier rack from the ceiling with hooks. In the rack, I stock my glasses, my coffee mugs, a few articles of canned food, potatoes and onions. I have always been a believer in how pots and pans, tea cups and coffee mugs, anything within an ear or a handle, belongs on a hook. I knew that if I began to stock my pots and pans and the meager shelf space I had (all 6 feet of them), I would end up with no space for anything else. So everything that could be hung was hung on the wall. I got loads of those little hooks that are set in to a plastic backing and double-sided tape. I hung these all over the kitchen walls and all my pots and pans were right away off my hands.
You have a new job, and you're happier still about moving to a new neighborhood in the city. Your new apartment seems fine, and it would be perfect if only it weren't for such a dinky kitchen. To add insult to injury, it comes with a grand total of two drawers and 6 feet of cabinet. That was me two years ago. How on earth do they expect me to put all my cooking ingredients, pots, pans and utensils into so little space? I guess I could have given up on the idea of cooking altogether and lived off food from Dunkin' Donuts. But you know the whole ongoing debate about cholesterol, don't you? I decided to consult kitchen design books and work out a few ideas myself on what kind of kitchen design ideas could help me cram everything I needed in an elegant way into the limited space I have.
