The shape of the kitchen too has undergone many changes because of the new kitchen design ideas. The island kitchen is perfect in case of a large room. The concept of the open kitchen is fast catching up in many modern homes. In such kitchens a small dining area is also included.
The first thing I did was to look for some place in my kitchen where I could install a little storage rack. I found a little poorly-designed corner in the kitchen. I didn't want to take that counter space up though; I hung a four-tier rack from the ceiling with hooks. In the rack, I stock my glasses, my coffee mugs, a few articles of canned food, potatoes and onions. I have always been a believer in how pots and pans, tea cups and coffee mugs, anything within an ear or a handle, belongs on a hook. I knew that if I began to stock my pots and pans and the meager shelf space I had (all 6 feet of them), I would end up with no space for anything else. So everything that could be hung was hung on the wall. I got loads of those little hooks that are set in to a plastic backing and double-sided tape. I hung these all over the kitchen walls and all my pots and pans were right away off my hands.
Modern: Born out of the simplistic modernist movement of 20th Century Germany, and fueled by the Bauhaus movement, modern themes have made a big impact on the American kitchen. Simple lines and precise symmetry are key traits of this popular theme.
