And finally, I just didn't have enough space on my counter top to put my microwave and my food processor. I needed more counter top, in a kitchen that wasn't going to expand. I summoned my carpentry skills, and constructed a little cupboard with a counter top and casters instead of feet. I placed all the stuff I couldn't fit into my kitchen in the shelf space in the cabinet and on the counter top. I left this outside the kitchen most of the time, and only slid it into the kitchen when I needed it.
Another aspect of kitchen design ideas to be considered is whether or not you need your kitchen to be kid friendly. If you have young children in your home, you may want to create an area that allows your children easy access to countertop space so that they may assist you and learn from you when cooking. Often, a kitchen island space works well for this and, if your kitchen does not allow for an island, set up a space that is not too close to your cooking zone.
